Old School RuneScape: Complete Speedrun Guide to My Arm’s Big Adventure
If you’re looking to complete My Arm’s Big Adventure quickly and efficiently in Old School RuneScape, this guide will walk you through every step - from item preparation to boss strategy. This quest is fairly straightforward and ideal for mid- to high-level players looking to unlock the Trollheim herb patch, one of the most useful farming upgrades in the game. Completing it efficiently can save time and resources, especially if you plan to buy OSRS gold to quickly stock up on necessary supplies for your farming and combat needs. The entire run takes around 15–20 minutes when done efficiently.
Preparation and Required Items
Before starting, make sure you have the following items ready:
· 3 Ugthanki dung – To obtain this, bring red hot sauce, three buckets, and a spade, then teleport to Pollnivneach. Enter the camel pen southwest of the kebab shop, use the red hot sauce on the trough, wait about 10 seconds, and collect the dung with your buckets.
· 8 super composts – Seven for the patch and one reserved for the quest’s final stage.
· 1 rake, 1 seed dibber, 1 spade, 1 bucket
· 10–15 noted high-healing food
· Super combat potion or super set
· 2 prayer potions
· 1 games necklace
· 2 stamina potions
· 3 fairy ring teleports to AJR and a Dramen staff
· Amulet of glory (for quick access to the Edgeville fairy ring)
You’ll also need 60% Tai Bwo Wannai favor to begin this quest. If you haven’t earned it yet, check out a Tai Bwo Wannai favor guide - it’s a quick process involving cleaning the village and trading logs for reputation.
Armor and Prayer Setup
For this quest, a melee setup with high defense is ideal. You’ll face a boss later on that can hit moderately hard but is easy to control with proper positioning. Wear climbing boots to traverse Trollheim and keep your quick prayers set to Protect from Missiles and your preferred melee-boosting prayer (such as Piety or Ultimate Strength).
Starting the Quest
When ready, teleport to your nearest fairy ring and enter the code AJR. Run northeast through the passage into Troll Stronghold, entering the secret door and heading upstairs. From there, run south through the corridor - activate Protect from Melee to avoid the level 69 trolls that can hit up to 11 - and turn it off once you reach the southern room.
Speak to Burntmeat to begin the quest, then talk to My Arm just east of him.
Journey to Death Plateau
Use your games necklace to teleport to Burthorpe and run northwest toward Death Plateau. As you approach the area, turn on Protect from Missiles to defend against thrower trolls. At the center of the plateau, use your bucket on the pot, then teleport back to your fairy ring and use AJR once again.
Re-enter Troll Stronghold and return to Burntmeat’s room. My Arm will escort you up to the top of the stronghold - just relax during this short segment.
Setting Up the Herb Patch
Once you’re on the roof with My Arm, read the farming manual, then speak to him again. Use the following items on the patch in this order:
1. Three Ugthanki dung
2. Seven super composts (save one for later)
Talk to My Arm to trigger a short dialogue sequence, then head south and southeast to speak with Murcaily near the hardwood patch. After the cutscene (about two minutes), use the nearby bank to prepare for the upcoming fight. Deposit all unnecessary tools like buckets, and fill your inventory with food and potions, leaving one space open.
The Boss Fight
Teleport back to AJR and return through Troll Stronghold. Head upstairs and climb the ladder to reach My Arm again. When prompted, use your rake on My Arm - it’ll break, so combine the pieces and use it again. Then follow these steps in order:
· Use super compost on My Arm
· Use gout tubers
· Use seed dibber
Before triggering the fight, drink your super set or super combat potion, activate Protect from Melee, and be ready for the boss’s minion. Once that’s defeated, a short cutscene will introduce the main boss.
Immediately switch to Protect from Missiles and position yourself east near the agility shortcut sign. Stand close to the wall - this prevents the boss’s knockback mechanic from stunning you. The boss has a max hit of 14, but with high-defense gear, it will rarely land damage. Turn on Auto Retaliate and focus on keeping your prayer and food topped up.
Finishing the Quest
After defeating the boss, use your spade on My Arm and wait while he digs up the goutweed. Head south down the ladder, speak to Burntmeat, then return to the herb patch to talk to My Arm once more and complete the quest.
Congratulations - My Arm’s Big Adventure is complete! You’ve earned access to the Trollheim herb patch, one of the most valuable farming spots in OSRS. With this patch unlocked, you can start maximizing herb profits or even use your extra resources to invest in cheap OSRS gold for faster gear upgrades and farming supplies. Whether you’re optimizing herb runs or collecting goutweed for Prayer potions, this quest is well worth the effort.
